Seattle Times Article HERE!
It seems as though our neighborhood has become Chic! We are now "charming", "old-fashioned", and "quaint". I think that we always knew that we had something special, but it is nice to be in fashion!
Many of our neighborhood features were mentioned, however they missed a few.
* Wonderful mix of neighbors who love their community
* We are loved by the city and are always listened to
* Promotes healthy lifestyle by providing lots of opportunities to walk
* feel free to add your own

Trader Joes
Does anyone know what is happening with Trader Joes?
For more than two years we have been writing and sending in request letters to Trader Joes so that they would consider coming to The Landing here in Renton.
Responses from the company have been spotty... they rely on specific demographics when they consider where they would like to put a store.
Are we NOT the Trader Joes type then? Watch this video and you be the judge:

Ready for a BIG Earthquake?
I am not sure how many of us were up at 5:30 in the morning on Friday to feel the 4.0 earthquake. I sure wasn't but my next-door neighbor was (she is my hero). Some say that right before "the big one" we will be warned by some small earthquakes in the area. Uh-oh!
The City of Renton has produced a brief online education video to help citizens be prepared in the event of a disaster.

Report from the Winter 09 NRNA Meeting
Hello All. We had a good turn out at the neighborhood meeting, last Thursday. We missed all who could not make it.
Linda Knight, the Solid Waste Coordinator with the City, explained everything we needed to know about the new garbage pickup program. Did you know you can mix your chicken bones in with your yard waste?
Suzanne Dale Estey, Director of Economic Development, wrapped the night up with new developments at the landing. Also we learned our neighborhood will be one of the first involved with the new city planning zones.
Thanks to all for coming

Quarterly Neighborhood Meeting
I hope everyone gets to our next meeting held on January 22nd at the Senior Center on Burnette. It starts at 6:30 PM for social time and the meeting is at 7:00. We have two excellent guest speakers. Both of whom you will want to hear from.
First, Lind Knigth or someone from her staff with the Solid Waste Coordination Dept. will be there to explain all the new details and answer questions about our new garage pickup.
Second, Suzanne Dale Estey, Director of Economic Development for the City, will be there to tell us the overall vision for the City over the next 5 to 20 years and how North Renton will fit into this vision.

Crazy Weather!
From snow and windstorms in December to flooding in January, it makes one wonder, what is next?
SNOW: Our North Renton neighbors came together to enjoy the weather and we were very fortunate that our city cleared most of our streets of snow.
RAIN: The Cedar River sure is a sight to see... check out the photos on our neighborhood website. You won't believe your eyes.
